This is post-jam version of the game, with some small visual updates and bug fixes. The version that was rated during the jam can be downloaded below.

About GMTK Theme:

  • Scrap boy can't control when he swaps power ups. He will swap after some time or when hurt!
  • The bar on the side of your current power shows how much time you have left with that power. When it's fully depleted, your next shot will trigger the swap.

Why we implemented this mechanic for the jam: In games with multiple power ups, oftenly the player sticks to one power, either because it's their favourite, or because you just forget about it. In Scrap Boy, since there's no way to choose which power to use, the player has to use all powers and mobility options and improvise.

The level design is made in a way that you are able to play the entire game with any of the 6 power-ups. If you want more replayability, try to finish the game with each one, without picking the others :)

  • ↑↓←→ -  Move and Aim
  • Z/C/N - Jump
  • X/V/M - Shoot
  • You can swap X and Z  if you prefer: Pause>Swap Buttons

This is astoundingly good. Fast becoming my favorite game on PICO-8, prob because I'm a diehard megaman fan and this has strong megaman vibes. I would very much like to play the cart on my rpi devices, is the game on the bbs? Chipped you some $ anyway cause you deserve it.

Hey! Sorry for taking so long... I reworked some mechanics and remade a bunch of stuff, but I still have to make new levels and clean up the code. Sonic Expo is next week, so I put Scrap Boy on hold for a bit to work on my Sonic game so I have a decent build ready for the event.
